Homemade Chex Mix.

DSC_6179This is one of my favorite things to make when the weather starts cooling down. My mom used to make it all the time and the kitchen smells amazing while it bakes. The Worcestershire sauce creates an addictive unami flavor for the Chex mix. A simple, easy snack to whip up that’s perfect for setting out for guests or taking to a tailgate. This would also be a fun hostess gift. Enjoy!

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.

Melt 1/4 cup unsalted butter. Stir into the melted butter: 4 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 tablespoon chopped dried rosemary (I use dried because fresh would burn), and 1/2 teaspoon onion powder.

In a large bowl, mix together:

3 cups rice Chex cereal
3 cups wheat Chex cereal
1 cup whole grain Cheez-Its
1 cup mini pretzels
1 cup mixed nuts (I like peanuts, pecans, & cashews)

Pour the butter mixture over the chex mix and coat evenly. Spread out the mixture on a large, rimmed baking sheet.

Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes or so. Store in a sealed container.

Yield: About 9 cups of Chex Mix.
